Anywhere Connect Android Phone and Tablet – Instant messaging

Home | Business Apps | Anywhere Connect Android Phone and Tablet – Instant messaging

Anywhere Connect helps you stay in touch with colleagues using chat, for quick interactions when it’s not convenient to talk.

Note: This feature is unavailable for Anywhere Connect users who have a Skype4Business profile.

A. Chat Tab

The Chat tab shows the list of recent chats since the last login. If User A chats with User B multiple times, their discussions appear as one item in the list. Tapping the name opens the chat view (IM view) where new messages can be typed. Old messages are also shown. Chats are listed so that the newest one is always at the top. Chats are not in alphabetical order and are always listed with the most recent first.

New incoming messages are indicated with a notification badge to the right of the name. The icon remains next to the name until the message is read.

B. Chat

  1. To initiate a chat session, select the name of the recipient from your contact list, communication history or the directory.
  2. Then, inside the contact’s profile, select the Chat icon.
  3. To add another contact to a chat session, tap the Add Contact icon at the top of the chat window.
  4. Then, tap the contacts you would like to add to the chat session and select the Checkmark icon in the top, right-hand corner.

A user can leave a group chat by following these steps:

  1. Select the Options icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Chat window.
  2. Then select Leave conversation.

The chat will be marked as "offline," and the user will no longer receive messages from the chat. When selecting the offline chat, the user re-joins the room and starts receiving messages. However, the user does not receive the messages that were sent in the chat while the user was outside of the room.

To clear the chat history, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Options icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Chat window.
  2. Then select Delete chat. This option works the same as the corresponding option in a one-on-one chat and removes the local history.

Select the View Participants icon to open a dialog that shows the list of participants in the group chat.
